Natural Language Processing is an informal term used to describe a process by which the human brain forms representations for individual sounds and combines these representations to form meaning. The brain uses these representations to understand spoken language, and many times, it can also be employed to decipher the writing.

Next, the brain considers the pitch of the sounds that it perceives. Each sound has a different pitch depending on its frequency. The frequencies of sounds are classified into three basic categories: low, medium, and high. Each category has distinct sets of frequency, which is why the brain produces different representations of the same sounds.

These different representations allow the brain to focus on the verbal function of speech or for reading and writing to take place. The brain may also be responsible for hearing within the ear, as well.

Next, the brain associates each sound with a name often called a word or phoneme. Think of the word “acorn” and consider what it represents, a grain of sand. This similarity of sound and word allows for fluent communication and even recognition of the word “acorn.”
