Growing Quick– Developmental Milestones
We all know that bringing up a child is no joke. Apart from all the crying, the diaper changing, and the cereal feeding, parents also need to watch out for developmental milestones. Moreover, while all babies grow at their own pace, some essential milestones need to be attained by a certain age. Moreover, it is important for parents to know about developmental milestones.
About The Milestones
It is always better to have a checklist of sorts when it comes to developmental milestones. Therefore this is precisely why we have compiled a list of essential milestones here so that new parents have no problem in charting their child’s development. However, the specific periods mentioned here are based on a rough majority. After that some babies may bloom earlier, in others, it may be delayed.
Two Months Benchmark
This is the first of the developmental milestones, and it is at this stage that you will find your baby trying to locate you or smile at you. Therefore he or she may also learn techniques to calm himself or herself by doing something comforting, like sucking the thumb. Moreover, they start making gurgling sounds at this stage.
Four Months Benchmark
This is the next one of your developmental milestones. Moreover, by this time, your baby will learn how to play and may protest by crying, if playing stops. Therefore they can let parents know if they are happy or sad and learn to express feelings of discomfort like hunger or pain. Moreover, they start babbling and may utter unintelligible words by now, which mark the beginning of their progression towards spoken language acquisition.
Six Months Benchmark
This is the third one of your baby’s developmental milestones. The most important marker of this stage is that the baby learns to distinguish between familiar faces and strangers. In other words, they respond to their name and often calls out to parents. They make different sounds at this stage to indicate happiness or displeasure.
Nine Months Benchmark
By this penultimate developmental milestone, your baby already shows a preference for particular favorite objects or toys. They can clearly say “mama” or “papa” by now and can point to familiar people or things. The babies learn to crawl in no time. This period is very interesting. Some babies may directly begin walking after a few months of squatting.
One Year Benchmark
This is the final one of the developmental milestones. By now, the baby is shy and nervous around strangers and can kick up a tantrum if the parent leaves the vicinity. The baby may also learn to say a few monosyllabic words by this time and has successfully mastered simple hand gestures like waving goodbye or shaking their head to indicate a no. Moreover, parents should take their babies to the doctor regularly.
In case you feel that your baby is not growing at the expected rate, immediately consult a pediatrician. Do not administer home remedies since it may harm the child. The best thing to do is to keep patience and be sure first that there is a problem. Moreover, it is important for babies to feel wanted and loved.
